
Database Administrator - MS SQL Server
Base Salary: $65000 to $75000 Per Year
Employment Type: Full Time
Work Hours: 8am-5pm
Education Requirements
- College degree in related field preferred or equivalent related experience.
Experience Requirements
- 3+ years' experience with MS Windows operating systems, in a corporate networked environment.
- 3+ years' experience with SQL Server with demonstrated management of a SQL environment containing multiple SQL servers.
- Familiarity with information security in a highly regulated industry.
- Familiarity and experience with a variety of Security concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Knowledge of and experience with Storage environments, redundant disks and connectivity to them including Local disk, NAS, SAN, RAID, Fiber and iSCSI.
- Proficiency in writing Powershell scripts to automate common database admin tasks
- Strong communication skills and the ability to be influential through both written and verbal interactions with a variety of audiences.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Ability to maintain productivity while multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Implementation and support of SQL Server setup and all associated components such as Database Services, Analysis Services, Integration Services and Reporting Services.
- Set-up and support of SQL Replication, Log Shipping and/or other technologies used to provide HA environments for SQL Server.
- Work closely with SQL and Application Developers to:
- Assist with database design, process design and other items impacting SQL functionality and performance.
- Ensure security best practices are being followed.
- Monitor SQL system usage, performance, and data storage. Identify problem areas and provide suggestions for mitigating problem and performance areas.
- Establish, execute, and support SQL Server backups.
- SQL Server migration, upgrades and patches as required.
- Research and identify issues, suggest possible solutions, and follow through to an effective resolution.
